Willie Evans

Willie started piping at the age of 8 with Ballyboley Pipe Band from County Antrim Northern Ireland. He got the basics from his father Davy and the late Tom Stewart (Ballyboley) he then went on to receive tuition for many years from from the late Alec Craig (Ex Seaforth Highlanders) whom under who’s guidance won many junior and intermediate MSR solo titles in Northern & Southern Ireland, which lead to promotion to senior level. He received piobaireachd tuition from Andrew Wright for a number of years through a series of classes ran to promote the playing of piobaireachd in Northern Ireland.

On the band front he played with Ballycoan Pipe Band for three years before moving to Field Marshal Montgomery pipe band where he played for several years. Winning the World’s in 2002 & the Cowal, British, Scottish, European, Ulster & All Ireland championships on multiple occasions. He was also Pipe Sergeant of the grade one David Urquhart Travel Pipes & Drums in 2004 under P/M Chris Armstrong.
Willie now lives in Fort William (Lochaber) where he has formed the Glen Mor Pipe Band to encourage pipe band competition and performance.
