Spirit of Scotland Pipe Band

Jim hails from Aurora, Ontario, just north of Toronto, Canada. A regular in Scotland throughout the 1980s and again recently, he has won the Gold Medals at Oban (1991) and Inverness (1985), the Clasp at Inverness (1987) and the M/S/R at the Glenfiddich Championship (1986). He was a member of the Grade 1 Guelph Pipe Band in the 1970s, and of the 78th Fraser Highlanders from 1988 to 1993. He teaches piping at St. Andrew’s College, a private boys’ school in Aurora, and has published several popular educational books/DVDs. He also runs a piping supply business called McGillivray Piping, and a piping sheet music website called pipetunes. He judges regularly at the major gatherings in Scotland.
