Spirit of Scotland Pipe Band

Chris Duncan (nee Ross) grew up in the hills of Sutherland amidst family piping and drumming. Drifted from Highland Dancing into drumming via father’s influence and Edinburgh & HW University Officer Training Corps.
Joined the Vale of Atholl Pipe Band (P/M Ian Duncan) on the same day as Doug Stronach in 1983 on tenor drum. Moved onto Bass drum end of 1985 and won the World Champion Bass Drummer 1986. Enjoyed playing bass so much stayed there for about 18 years playing at everything , everywhere with the Vale.
Had a fun year with The City of Edinburgh Pipe Band before rejoining Ian and playing bass with Drambuie Kirkliston Pipe Band for a couple of great years and into Grade 1, when Drambuie sadly pulled the plug on their band.
Since then have concentrated on my work as a dental surgeon and encouraging the next generation who are now starting to compete in pipe bands too. Chris lives in the Strathmore Valley with Ian and their children Alex and Christina.
